Jennifer Brofer enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2002. Her first assignment was aboard Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C., as a reporter and editor for the base newspaper, The Boot. During her tour, she was recognized as the Featured Contributor for the 3rd Quarter 2003 issue of Marines Magazine and also won 2nd Place in the Outstanding New Writer category for the Marine Corps Division of Public Affairs Merit Awards Program.
Her second assignment was to MarinesTV in Washington, D.C. During her first year as a broadcaster, she earned the title of the Marine Corps' Outstanding New Broadcaster for 2007. During her tour, she served as the lead anchor for Marines Headlines, a weekly television news show that airs internationally on the Pentagon Channel. She also served as on-air talent for Daily News Update and Navy Marine Corps News. In addition to writing, shooting and editing news packages, she also managed video content for the Marine Corps Web site at www.marines.mil.
She is currently attending the Military Motion Media Program at Syracuse University and is set to graduate in May 2009. Her next assignment is to 1st Marine Logistics Group, Camp Pendleton, Calif.
